To make this recipe you will need a bag of popcorn, half a bag of popcorn kernels, and about a cup or so of sugar.
The key to making this recipe work is to get a steady stream of kernels into the kettle. That’s why I always use a good-sized pot for cooking. I do this by placing the kettle in the sink or a large bowl of water and let it soak while I’m prepping the next batch of ingredients.
To make this recipe, I’ll make three ingredients: I’m going to need about 2/3 of a cup of water.
I find that I get a great consistency of the popcorn from this recipe. I dont have to add too much sugar or salt. Just about 3/4 cup of water and 1/4 cup of sugar or salt is all that I need. I find that Im cooking the kernels for about one hour, then drain them into a bowl. Once youve got this down, you can then add some oil, some butter, and your favorite toppings. So after youve made the popcorn, you can then add in a few more toppings, such as peanuts or shredded cheese. You can just have a bowl of popcorn or add in some cheese or some other toppings at this point, if you want to.
Before we discuss the toppings, I want to mention that the last time we ate popcorn out of a bowl it was in a bowl that had a plastic straw, and it tasted like a big plastic bag of potato chips. So basically if you want to eat popcorn out of a bowl, you need to make sure you get the best ingredients for your popcorn. If you don’t plan on eating it out of a bowl, you can always just pop it in the microwave.
I’ve got it on good authority that popcorn is a great way to get a carb load without having to go through the effort of getting an entire bag of chips. And while popcorn and chips are not exactly the same thing, they are very close.
