We all know it, so I’ve decided to include it under the category of “foods we have to know about.” The quinoa, a plant that grows in parts of Africa and Asia, has become a popular ingredient in Mediterranean dishes, and in fact, it is one of the main ingredients of the famous quinoa salad.
I have yet to eat a day of quinoa salad, but I have read quite a bit about it. It contains a healthy dose of protein and several essential vitamins and minerals, including B vitamins, iron, calcium, and zinc. I have even heard of it being used as a natural laxative, and I imagine that a lot of you have enjoyed eating the plant in other ways, but I’ve never come across it.
