We have a tendency to think that the things we put in our bodies were created by magic, but what we know for sure is that most of them are the result of evolution. Over time, our own bodies have produced the food that we eat, and in turn, our bodies are producing the chemicals that keep our cells working properly and our organs functioning.
The reason chemicals are so important is because they keep everything from turning into bacteria. Bacteria and viruses are the most common ways that bacteria gets into our bodies. So what do our cells do when they get a new bacteria? They fight. And that’s the thing about bacteria. They’re so fast and so strong that when they get into our tissues, they quickly kill the rest of us. I think this is why plants in their natural state don’t have antibiotics.
Plants dont have bacteria, but theyre still pretty fast. In fact, just because we don’t have a whole lot of bacteria doesn’t mean they dont have a lot of chemicals to keep them in check. The human body has a whopping 6,000 different chemicals. At first glance, you might think that its a lot of chemicals, but if you look a little closer youll see theyre arranged in a way that makes them work in patterns that we have yet to decipher.
The problem is plants work a lot like algorithms. A plant doesnt have a particular pattern of chemicals to make it work. Instead, it just has a bunch of different chemicals that all do the exact same thing. The plants in the garden just have a bunch of different chemicals that all do the exact same thing.

We have been studying plants since our own childhoods, and we have a pretty good idea of what they do. You can see why I’m hesitant about plant paradox. The idea is that the plant life you see right before you might not be the one you will see once you start looking at plants on a more macro level. That is to say, you might think you are seeing a bunch of plants (I’m not making that up), but you might be seeing a bunch of different plants. In Plant Paradox its a study of how plants work to survive and reproduce.
I’ll be honest, Plant Paradox was a little bit of a let down. It didn’t really capture my attention, it didn’t have a lot of unique abilities that made me care about it, and when you think about it, it’s pretty basic. The only thing that stood out for me was the fact that the plant life was pretty bland.
